as you may already heard, or even viewed the online anouncing of the new iPhone, the iPhone 5, which we all waited so long months and months well the good news are here. The waiting is over, the 6th iPhone generation – iPhone 5 is finally here. It’s been anounced by Apple yesterday and will start pre-order online sales on September 14, or you can even buy it from the Apple Retail Stores on September 21. Here is a short review about the iPhone 5 with it’s performance, hardware, software improvements.
Lets take a look about the design a bit.
The iPhone 5 is made all of aluminuim and glass and thats the design that has been anounced by some popular forums, blogs some time ago. It has almost the same shape and form as it’s predecessors iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S but the most important part and the eye-catching thing is the aluminum + glass back and ofcourse a longer (not wider) 4-inch RETINA display.
The device features new 4-inch Retina display longer but not wider so it fill fit in one hand as it’s predecessors. The resolution supported by the new 4 inch RETINA display is 1136 by 640, with a pixel density that comes in at 326PPI. The longer display allows apps to display more content. Videos are played in widescreen without the lettering, etc. The headphone jack are now at the bottom of the device.
The display of the iPhone 5 features 44% more color saturation along with integrated touch technology making the display the most accurate and advanced currently present in the market.
iPhone 5 size and weight and hardware review
The device features the new A6 processor which is twice faster as A5 (there is no information for the CPU speed but as presented by Apple it’s 2x faster than iPhone 4S). The speakers of the device have been reduced by 20% and noise cancellation is supported by the earpiece. Users are introduced to the Wideband audio which means that lower and higher frequency bits of sound will be more audible during a voice call.
iPhone 5 colors
The back is two-toned which means that there is glass at the bottom and top, while everywhere else you will get to see metal. This takes care of the weak non-Gorilla Glass problem faced by the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.
iPhone 5 Battery life
There are a lots of improvements about the battery, some from the new iOS6, some from the hardware design. The battery on the iPhone 5 can give you up to 8 hours on LTE which is an improvement compared to the iPhone 4S.
iPhone 5 Connectivity
As rumored before and ofcourse as expected, it uses LTE connectivity, which means will be a lot faster that it’s predecessor, the iPhone 4S. It supports all the standards needed for all carriers: HSPA+, DC-HSDPA and LTE technologies. The best part is that they have combined the CDMA + LTE in one chip which is a new revolutionary breaktroughs and ofcourse it helps to get the “thinner” iPhone 5 design. As stated by Apple: Their Single-chip breaktrough works everywhere.
iPhone 5 Accessories
As predicted and rumored, there is a change at the dock connector. It’s smaller . Apple named it Lightning (probably a name play with their other connector: Thunderbolt). It’s 8-pin connector and probably the best thing happened about this Lightning connector is that is reversible. You will think whats that? Well you will be able to connect the cable to the iPhone 5 no matter of the orientation. Also there are accessories that will help you convert your old iPhone 30 pin connector and make it to 8-pin connector.
Front FaceTime camera
They have also make the 720p front camera better with a new backside illuminated sensor. It also has face detection and—at last—the operating system will enable FaceTime over cellular.
iPhone 5 with Nano-SIM
The Micro-SIM is gone, the iPhone 5 will use new type of SIM card which is smaller than the Micro-SIM which is called Nano-SIM by many. As usual you will have to get the new type of SIM card from your carrier so you can use your iPhone 5.
The iPhone 5 Price
There are 3 models available from the iPhone 5, similar to it’s predecessors, the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models. The price is:
$199 for the 16GB model, $299 for the 32GB model and $399 for the 64GB model with a two-year contract from Verizon, AT&T or Sprint. The device is available in two colors which are Black & Slate and White & Silver.
